CHARLIE PHUNG

Prior to joining MSKW Law, Charlie began his legal career in the civil arena litigating Elder Abuse and Medical Malpractice claims. There, he was able to hone his litigation skills by managing cases from inception to resolution and successfully defending against motions for summary judgment and writs of mandamus.

Since 2011, Charlie has been working primarily in the defense of workers’ compensation claims on behalf of insurance companies, third-party administrators and employers. Charlie has been successful in every aspect of the defense of workers’ compensation claims including defending a fraudulent claim against the Department of Social Services – In-Home Supportive Services wherein the applicant was found to have been guilty of violating insurance Code Section 1871.4(a)(2) and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $64,498.00.

Charlie brings a unique aggressive approach designed to efficiently defend and mitigate liability for his clients. Charlie understands that each client is different and curates the defense in collaboration with the client in order to promote their best interests.

Charlie enjoys giving back by mentoring law students, attorneys, and paralegals. Charlie also pays it forward by taking pro-bono cases. One of his proudest legal achievements was successfully preventing a disabled elderly woman from being homeless by successfully appealing the Orange County Housing Authority’s decision to not grant her a housing voucher, which she depended on since 1999.

In his free time, Charlie loves to spend time with his family and friends. He is an avid sports fan and fanatically supports the Detroit Lions.
